With 501,821 people infected with the coronavirus, the United States alone has almost 30% of the 1,697,255 cases recorded since the pandemic began in January. This Friday alone, 33 thousand new cases were registered.
In addition, the country is expected to overtake Italy on Saturday as the site with the most deaths from covid-19. To date, 18,695 people have died in the USA from the disease, while in the European country the number is 18,849.
However, the growth in total deaths has been much greater in the US, which had more than 2,000 deaths on Friday. Italy has seen mortality drop, and has had 570.
The main focus of the disease in the North American territory is the state of New York, which alone has more than 172 thousand contaminated and 7.8 thousand killed by the disease. The state has more cases than any other country in the world.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he wants the country to resume economic activities soon and that this will be the most important decision of his life. He believes the country will have less than 100,000 deaths by the end of the pandemic.
