Like clockwork, the summer months bring news around the next iPhone.
Yes, despite the devastating global coronavirus pandemic and antitrust claims surrounding Apple – and other big tech giants – the rumor about Apple’s next major smartphone remains hectic.
While no one outside a select group of Apple knows what to expect from the iPhone 12 (or what it will be called), here’s the last word on the street (cybernetics), from the expected launch time to the design, size, camera, performance battery and likely iOS 14 features built into the new device.

IPhone delays, 5G support
The arrival of the new iPhone family is not likely until October, based on the latest news from Apple and reports from several sources. The new iPhones are usually unveiled at a personal media event in early mid-September and are available shortly thereafter, but a slight delay – perhaps due to the coronavirus – shouldn’t be too surprising.
“As you know, last year we started selling new iPhones at the end of September. This year, we expect the supply to be available a few weeks later,” said Luca Maestri, Apple’s chief financial officer, on Thursday, during the call. the company’s third quarter earnings. Apple has not yet announced a date for the inauguration of the new iPhones.
Earlier this week, Qualcomm’s CFO, Akash Palkhiwala, did not call the iPhone by name, but foreshadowed this in an interview with Reuters saying: “We are seeing a partial impact due to the delay of a major phone launch… which removes some of the iPhone units. September to December quarter for us. ”
As part of its modem licensing agreement, Qualcomm will provide technology for 5G-enabled iPhones. To date, Apple has not launched a mobile device to take advantage of the emerging 5G wireless standard, which offers much faster speeds and other benefits. Several rumors point to all new iPhones compatible with 5G connectivity.
Apple’s notorious newscaster and Front Page Tech creator Jon Prosser predicted the phone would be delayed since March and reaffirmed this in a concise tweet on Wednesday: “iPhone 12 … New iPads … October”.

In April, Yoko Kubota of The Wall Street Journal reported a likely delay in programming the iPhone for 2020, around the same time Qualcomm suggested that COVID-19 could cause a disruption in the phone industry in 2020.
Scaling the new iPhone
Expect two state-of-the-art iPhones and two more powerful models, according to Apple’s news site MacRumors.
At 5.4 inches, the iPhone 12 will be the smallest iPhone available from Apple, except for the recently upgraded 4.7-inch iPhone SE.
An iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro are said to be 6.1 inches – similar to the existing iPhone 11 – while an iPhone 12 Pro Max is rumored to be 6.7 inches, making it the largest iPhone to date (the iPhone 11 Pro Max is 6.5 inches).
Although all iPhones 2020 have OLED screens as opposed to LCD screens, cameras are likely to vary (see below) and other rumors – such as a possible 120Hz “ProMotion” refresh rate for smoother videos – may only be in the highest range . final models.
Rumored iPhone costs, storage
If the rumors are true, expect to pay more for the next iPhones. And there are some devices planned, apparently.
According to a recent Twitter post by the professed Apple newscaster @komiya_kj, prices look higher with a new 5.4-inch iPhone 12 that should start at $ 699 – the same starting price as the iPhone 11 of 6 Inches of 2019, despite the smaller display. The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max would cost $ 799.
Both models are said to start with only 64 gigabytes of storage instead of 128 GB, as previously suspected by many. Prices are said to jump to $ 749 on the iPhone 12 128 GB and $ 849 on the iPhone 12 128 GB max. A 256 GB storage option is said to cost $ 849 and $ 949, for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max, respectively.
You’ll need to dig deeper into the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, which costs more than $ 1049, while the larger iPhone 12 Pro Max will be $ 1,149, according to @komiya_kj.
Upgrading to 256 GB of storage on the iPhone 12 Pro would cost $ 1,149, while the 512 GB model could be $ 1,349. The iPhone 12 Pro Max can cost $ 1,249 for 256 GB and $ 1,449 for a 512 GB version.
Along with a more energy efficient A14 Bionic processor, with up to 30% more battery performance, the new iPhones are said to have battery sizes ranging from 2,227 mAh for the iPhone 12 to a huge 3,687 battery mAh on the iPhone Pro Max, wrote @komiya_kj in a recent tweet.
This suggests that the iPhone 12 models should have longer battery life than previous models. For example, an iPhone 11 offers up to 17 hours of video playback, based on tests from various publications, such as 9to5Mac.
Focusing on cameras
All four iPhones of 2020 are believed to feature a metal frame, not unlike the 2010 iPhone 4, which, incidentally, and impressively, was used to win a recent photography award.
Speaking of cameras, Apple introduced its rear triple lens system on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, and we will probably see an evolution of that for the first-tier 2020 models (and a dual lens system for the more modest prices) devices) .
Apple’s iPhone 12 will feature a “high-end” lens arrangement on the rear camera to improve image quality, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities in Asia, whose recent report was quoted by 9to5Mac. from Apple.

Some speculation suggests that more advanced models will have a 3D camera, reminiscent of the Lidar scanner that Apple added to its latest iPad Pro models, allowing them to map a high-speed environment using reflected light. A camera with 3D depth detection also offers powerful augmented reality features.
LG will produce camera modules for the most expensive iPhones, according to Chinese technology news site Gizmochina, while Sharp and O-film will produce camera modules for the most basic iPhones.
In front of the new iPhones, Kuo suggests that Apple add a smaller lens for a smaller notch on the front of the device.
Possibly missing? Charger and headphones
As reported by AppleInsider, MacRumors and 9to5Mac in June, Kuo believes that Apple will not include two pillars with all previous iPhones so far: a charger and headphones.
That is, there will probably be a charging cable, which can be connected to a device’s USB port, but no cube-shaped power adapter for the end, to insert into an AC plug – if that’s true. You will also need to use your existing headphones or headphones, wirelessly or with a connection or lighting adapter.
As for smartphone packaging, leaker l0vetodream on Twitter predicts “the new packaging box (will be) thinner and more refined”.
